Alex Horne and his five-piece jazz band combine comedy, improvisation, storytelling and music.
The Horne Section brings together stand-up and live music in a free-wheeling and spontaneous combination.
Award-winning comedian Alex Horne has gathered five of the most renowned jazz musicians in the country to create something fresh and funny. Its jazz-infused comedy, live and loud, part improvised, part honed, part performance, part party.
The Horne Section's live show 'Horne Section‘s Questions Sessions' pits some of the finest contemporary comedians against each other to complete the most unlikely tasks, and has enjoyed sell-out runs in Edinburgh and at the Soho Theatre.
The show is extremely versatile. Clients could opt for a straight half-hour show of comedy and music for after a meal or a longer set, tailored to their evening. Alex and the band can create songs about a particular event or involve particular individuals in a charming but hilarious way.
Alternatively, the band can provide fantastic live music throughout the evening; gentle jazz earlier and more upbeat later, with Alex acting more as a genial MC. Or The Horne Section can provide a full bill of comedy, with other great comedians combining with the musicians in new and exciting ways.
The Horne Section starred in Horne Section‘s Christmas, a deliciously blasphemous delight (Chortle) of a short film that aired on Sky Arts on Christmas Day. They are the only band that has ever hosted 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and Never Mind the Buzcocks. They have also appeared on The John Bishop Show, as well as presenting three series of their very own show for BBC Radio 4.
Combining brilliant music with interactive comedy, The Horne Section is unlike any other entertainment package.
